Power Rankings
The Week 2 read
Real records now factor in, alongside the rest of the season still to come.
Week 2 recap
Jsquared
- Week 2
- W, 202.94 -- highest score in the league, 2nd straight week
- Since Issue No. 003
- held at No. 1
CeeDee Lamb went off in the real Cowboys game this week -- 153 yards and two scores -- and this roster's floor is now proven at the highest level two weeks running. Jonathan Taylor continues to anchor the rest of a lineup that simply doesn't have a bad week/week decision to make right now.
2-0, with the league's best score both weeks. There isn't a real argument for anyone else at No. 1 right now.
The question: does anything slow this roster down before Week 4, or is this a real runaway?
Week 2 recap
Off to Grandma
- Week 2
- W, 166.14 -- 58-point margin over Tyreek Child Support
- Since Issue No. 003
- up from No. 4
A second straight comfortable win, and the Malik Willis/Pitts-Watson additions from the last two issues continue to look like exactly the right calls at the right time. This roster is playing like a team that knows precisely what it has.
2-0 with real margins both weeks moves this into genuine contender territory -- not hype, just the record and the box scores agreeing with each other.
The question: does this roster keep pace with Jsquared, or is the gap between 1 and 2 already real?
Week 2 recap
The Dudes
- Week 2
- W, 166.34 -- 2nd straight win
- Since Issue No. 003
- up from No. 5
Will Anderson delivered a real signature week -- 22 defensive points, among the best individual IDP performances in the league this week -- and the trade that brought him and Nico Collins here is starting to show exactly why it was worth the price. This roster is winning with the pieces it went out and got, not just riding a favorable schedule.
Two clean wins to open the year, now with a real signature performance behind them. The floor and the ceiling are both starting to look real.
The question: does Anderson keep this up, or was Week 2 his ceiling game?
Week 2 recap
Shough n Sons Electric Co.
- Week 2
- W, 148.14 -- by 1.58, the closest game of the week
- Since Issue No. 003
- up from No. 7
Somehow even tighter than last week's 3.14-point win -- this rebuild has now played the league's closest game two weeks in a row and come out on top both times. Also active on the trade wire, sending Josh Downs to handyjallday for Geno Smith, a straightforward veteran-for-veteran swap that adds a real starting-caliber arm to the room.
2-0 with two nail-biters is a different kind of impressive than 2-0 with blowouts, but it's the same record. This rebuild is legitimately ahead of schedule.
The question: does this team's knack for winning close games hold up, or is puzzle regression coming?
Week 2 recap
Just Purdy
- Week 2
- L, 146.56 -- by 1.58, the closest game of the week
- Since Issue No. 003
- up from No. 6
The other side of the league's tightest game -- Joe Burrow and Brock Purdy kept this roster competitive right to the final whistle, and 146.56 points is a losing score in exactly one matchup this week. A tough way to slide to 1-1, but a 1-1 record with real roster stability behind it is still a firmer foundation than either 0-2 team below it right now.
The question: does a game this close in a loss mean anything different than a game this close in a win?

Week 2 recap
The Drake and Dart Show
- Week 2
- L, 125.92
- Since Issue No. 003
- down from No. 3
A tougher week than the 3-point Week 1 heartbreaker -- this one wasn't as close. Drake Maye and Jaxson Dart remain a real Superflex floor, but 0-2 is 0-2 regardless of how competitive the first loss looked, and that's now enough to drop behind a couple of 1-1 rosters with steadier weeks behind them.
Two losses to open the season is real information now, even for a roster this talented. The margin doesn't matter as much in Week 2 as it did in Week 1.
The question: does this Superflex duo turn things around before 0-2 becomes 0-3?
Week 2 recap
Poultry Science
- Week 2
- L, 114.62
- Since Issue No. 003
- down from No. 2
A much rougher week than the tough beat in Week 1 -- this roster's floor showed up, and it wasn't pretty. Two straight losses, even for a team many had rated among the league's best in the preseason, is enough to cost real ground.
The talent hasn't gone anywhere, but 0-2 doesn't get the benefit of the doubt for a third straight week without a real answer.
The question: is this a genuine slump, or does the schedule turn favorable just in time?
Week 2 recap
You Like That!
- Week 2
- L, 170.64 -- 3rd-highest score of the week, still lost
- Since Issue No. 003
- up from No. 10
Saquon Barkley and Amon-Ra St. Brown helped produce the third-best score in the entire league this week, and it still wasn't enough against the one team playing on a different level right now. A genuinely good loss.
The question: does a losing score this high translate into wins against anyone not named Jsquared?
Week 2 recap
The Weekend Lovers
- Week 2
- W, 160.30 -- largest margin of the week (69.48)
- Since Issue No. 003
- up from No. 12
The most lopsided win of the week, and a real bounce-back for last year's championship runner-up after an underwhelming Week 1. This is much closer to the roster that made a real run just one season ago.
The question: was the Week 1 loss the outlier, or was this win the outlier?
Week 2 recap
The Wolf on Rubin Street
- Week 2
- W, 146.92
- Since Issue No. 003
- down from No. 9
A real bounce-back win after Jeremiyah Love's promising debut wasn't enough in Week 1. On the trade front, this roster cashed in Omar Cooper Jr. for two future 2nd-round picks from Tyreek Child Support -- a clean, future-focused return for a depth piece.
The question: does this roster settle into a real rhythm now that the rookie class has a game under its belt?
Week 2 recap
Three Nix Nine
- Week 2
- W, 127.24
- Since Issue No. 003
- held at No. 11
A much-needed win after a Week 1 riddled with injuries to real contributors. Not a dominant performance, but exactly the kind of game a roster missing multiple key names needed to find.
The question: does the health improve enough to find out what this roster actually looks like at full strength?
Week 2 recap
Tyreek Child Support
- Week 2
- L, 108.06
- Since Issue No. 003
- up from No. 13
Back to earth after last week's Josh Allen/Ashton Jeanty-fueled explosion -- this week's box score looked a lot more like the two-year track record this front office has actually built. Also active on the trade wire, sending two future 2nds to The Wolf on Rubin Street for Omar Cooper Jr., a real bet on adding a young receiving piece rather than just banking more picks.
1-1 is a fair record for a roster that's shown both its ceiling and its floor within two weeks of each other.
The question: does the Cooper addition become a real weekly piece, or another name in a crowded room?
Week 2 recap
handyjallday
- Week 2
- L, 114.16
- Since Issue No. 003
- down from No. 8
Justin Jefferson had a quiet real-life week, and this roster's second straight loss is now a real trend rather than a bad-matchup explanation. The front office made a move on the wire, sending Josh Downs to Shough n Sons Electric Co. for Geno Smith -- a real, if modest, step toward finally addressing the quarterback room that's been the story of this team's season so far.
0-2 for a roster many had rated top-3 in the preseason is a genuine problem now, not a one-week blip.
The question: does the Geno Smith addition actually move the needle at QB2, or is more still needed?
Week 2 recap
Of Mice and Mendozas
- Week 2
- L, 90.82 -- lowest score in the league, 2nd straight week
- Since Issue No. 003
- held at No. 14
The lowest score in the league for the second week running, which continues to be a fairly complete summary of a roster that traded away its competitive pieces on purpose months ago. Nothing about Week 2 changes that math.
The question: does any single week look different before this roster's real value shows up in a future draft class instead?
Full offseason and Week 1 team-by-team breakdowns remain available in Issue No. 001, Issue No. 002, and Issue No. 003.
Trade Recap
Two more moves since Issue No. 003
Two different pairs of teams this time -- a real change of pace from the same front office running it back four times in a row.
Tyreek Child Support acquires Omar Cooper Jr.
Tyreek Child Support sent two future 2nd-round picks (2027 and 2028) to The Wolf on Rubin Street for Omar Cooper Jr., a young Jets receiver. This is a real bet on adding a piece rather than just continuing to bank future capital -- a departure from this front office's usual approach, and one worth watching given the ongoing scrutiny this roster is under (see this issue's Power Rankings). The Wolf on Rubin Street, for its part, turns a depth piece into two clean future selections at no real cost to its current roster.
handyjallday and Shough n Sons swap Josh Downs for Geno Smith
handyjallday sent Josh Downs to Shough n Sons Electric Co. for Geno Smith, a straightforward wide receiver for quarterback swap. For handyjallday, this is a real if modest step toward finally addressing the QB2 hole that's defined its season -- Smith is a legitimate starting-caliber arm, even if he doesn't fully solve the problem on his own. Shough n Sons picks up a real receiving piece for a rebuild that's currently 2-0 and playing above its offseason profile.
Winners & Losers
What Week 2 actually did to this league
Real NFL performances, and the specific Sweats Only franchises they made or broke
CeeDee Lamb & the Cowboys passing game
Dak Prescott threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns, and Lamb was the biggest beneficiary -- 8 catches, 153 yards, two scores. Jsquared owns Lamb, and this is a direct, verifiable reason this franchise has now posted the highest score in the league in back-to-back weeks.
Will Anderson's real signature week
The Dudes' half of the offseason's biggest trade just cashed in. Anderson's real Week 2 was among the top individual defensive performances anywhere in football this week, and it's rostered on a team that's now 2-0. The blockbuster trade this newsletter has been calling "quietly working" just got a lot louder.
Tyler Shough's redemption arc
Issue No. 003 tagged Shough as a Week 1 loser after a rough debut. One week later, he led a real road upset over a Ravens team that had looked like a genuine contender through Week 1. Dynasty stock is a rolling average, not a single data point -- this is exactly why.
Jonah Coleman's opportunity keeps growing
This newsletter flagged Coleman as a Deep Cut back in Issue No. 002's Top 20 feature -- a name to watch, not a name to bank on. Two weeks later, with J.K. Dobbins banged up and RJ Harvey out entirely, Coleman is quietly becoming the exact kind of real-opportunity story that Deep Cuts section exists to catch early.
Justin Jefferson's quiet Sunday
handyjallday's season has now become defined by two things stacking on top of each other: the QB2 hole that's been public since July, and a real Week 2 in which one of the roster's true stars simply didn't produce. Neither one is the other's fault, but together they're 0-2.
Chicago's offense, two weeks running
Not a direct Sweats Only storyline, but worth flagging for anyone holding pieces of that offense: a unit that looked like the league's most explosive in Week 1 was held to a field goal's worth of points a week later, and now has a real question mark at quarterback heading into Week 3.
Bijan Robinson & Drake London's quiet weeks
A reminder for anyone riding last week's breakouts into this week with full confidence: reputation buys patience, not results. Both are still every-week starts on talent alone, but Week 2 is exactly why the phrase "positive regression" exists.
Of Mice and Mendozas' scoreboard, again
90.82 points is a new low even by this rebuild's own recent standard. The picks keep piling up. The Sundays keep looking like this. Both things are true at once, and both were always going to be.

Roster's Look-Ahead: A McRosterface Exclusive
Every projection below comes straight from Sleeper's own player models, run through this newsletter's usual complete lack of humility. Predicted winners, predicted high scorers, and the players this desk expects to feast on a soft matchup -- issued with the Institute's standard confidence and standard zero accountability.
Trade rumor mill
Remember handyjallday's public promise to give up "something completely undefined" for a starting-caliber quarterback? The something turned out to be Josh Downs, and the quarterback turned out to be Geno Smith. The Institute regrets to inform its readers that the mystery has been solved and was, in fact, a normal trade the whole time.
Tyreek Child Support spending two future 2nds on a receiver rather than banking more picks is the first real departure from form this front office has shown all year. Whether that's a new philosophy or a one-time reaction to outside pressure remains an open question.
Four teams are 2-0. None of them have played each other yet. Circle the calendar for whenever that finally happens.
Of Mice and Mendozas is 0-2 with the league's lowest score both weeks, and somehow still hasn't made a trade purely to lose more efficiently. There's real restraint in that, or at least the appearance of it.
Final word
Two weeks in, the league has sorted itself into three honest groups: four teams playing clearly above the pack, four teams with real questions to answer, and six teams still waiting for a third data point before anyone can say anything useful about them. That's not a cop-out. That's just where Week 2 actually leaves a 14-team field.
Twelve weeks to go. The records are starting to mean something. Act accordingly.
